Hypnosis

Hypnosis is the Greek word for sleep and describes the very natural process of opening our subconscious minds for a period of time. During this relaxed moment you can do two things: remove unhealthy or unwanted values and patterns and then replace them with new healthy, desirable ones. The hypnotic state is a normal experience that everyone has daily. We call it day-dreaming or zoning out. Have you ever driven home, or to the store, and realized you remembered no details of the drive? You were in a hypnotic trance. The hypnotic state is a normal, daily experience. Hypnosis is the deliberate inducement, and deepening of, this natural state to achieve a specific goal.

During hypnosis you are completely aware of your surroundings, your senses become more acute, your concentration increases and your mind sharpens and focuses. You become very relaxed but you are not asleep. Hypnosis empowers you to do what you have already decided that you want to do. Hypnosis is a tool that allows you to master your own fate and captain your own soul. Hypnosis can empower you to create your own reality.

Hypnosis Defined

Hypnosis is a natural and safe state of mind. In simple terms, hypnosis is a temporary state of altered awareness in which the conscious mind is passive and the subconscious mind is alert and responsive. Hypnosis is a technique that allows an individual to bypass the critical factor of the conscious mind; and allows the establishment of acceptable selective thinking through the use of the subconscious mind. All Hypnosis is fundamentally self-hypnosis.

In the hypnotic state, you are enabled to reject your erroneous beliefs and accept new, more healthy and empowering ones. Hypnosis is the means used to communicate between the conscious mind and the subconscious mind.

The Subconscious Mind

The subconscious mind is where we store all our beliefs and values. It also controls our bodily functions. Our conscious mind is the critical factor. It judges, critiques, approves or disapproves of what gets stored in the subconscious mind. As much as the conscious mind protects you by filtering what it allows in the subconscious, it can also send back unhelpful or unhealthy values or beliefs such as “smoking calms me down” or “eating makes me feels better when I’m sad.” This information can become part of who we are.

Think of the subconscious as a greenhouse. Both roses and poison ivy will flourish in this fertile environment. With hypnosis, you do the weeding, pruning and healthy reseeding to stay happy and strong.
